  1. This file lists the changes in dviwin for each version. Please read the
  2. normal documentation for full details on the changes.

  4. Version 2.5  (3/15/93)
  5. ======================
  6.    1. Memory requirements have been drastically reduced: major speed
  7.       improvements when using high resolutions on 4M machines.
  8.    2. Circumvented a common bug in video drivers (the display would
  9.       be incorrect).
  10.    3. The font path can be customized using $r. IF UPGRADING FROM THE
  11.       PREVIOUS VERSION, ADD THE SUFFIX \$r TO YOUR BASE DIRECTORY.
  12.    4. Multiple font paths are now supported.
  13.    5. You can move to the next or previous page by pressing the right
  14.       mouse button on the vertical scrollbar.
  15.    6. Added support for emTeX font libraries ("fli" files)
  16.    7. Added a 600dpi resolution as well as two user-definable resolutions.
  17.    8. The printing resolution now defaults to the actual printer resolution,
  18.       but you can still adjust it. It is now independent of the viewing
  19.       resolution.
  20.    9. When opening a dvi file, it remembers the last page and position
  21.       and goes there automatically.
  22.   10. When losing the focus, the program now closes the dvi file but
  23.       remembers the position within the file. When it gets the focus
  24.       back, it checks the file for changes, and reloads it if necessary.
  25.   11. The program keeps a cache of unused fonts, to accelerate the loading
  26.       of new documents or changes in the magnification. The size of the
  27.       cache is adjustable by the user.
  28.   12. Added a magnifying glass with smoothing options. It is invoked by
  29.       clicking the middle mouse button or the left+right buttons.
  30.   13. The "Remember Position" option has been split into "Keep Hor.
  31.       Position" and "Keep Vert. Position".
  32.   14. New command "Apply Margins" so that you can set the margins
  33.       without entering the actual numbers.
  34.   15. Added an option about warning beeps.
  35.   16. The "New" entry in the "File" menu has been renamed to "Close".
  36.   17. When using metric paper, it reports positions and lengths in mm.
  37.   18. Added Control-Number shortcut to open any of the last four files.
  38.   19. The Home key moves you now to the top-left margin; if you press it
  39.       again, it moves you to the top-left corner. The ^Home, End, ^End
  40.       keys do the same thing for different corners.
  41.   20. Added some more positioning commands using the arrow keys or the
  42.       mouse. The scrolling amount is now adjustable.
  43.   21. The Space Bar and Enter keys now scroll the entire file as in
  44.       the "more" program.
  45.   22. Can handle now up to 17 open font files instead of 10. Make sure
  46.       that you have a FILES=50 (or more) statement in your config.sys file.
  47.   23. The log file is put in the directory specified by the TEMP
  48.       environment variable.
  49.   24. Added a "Quit" command in the "File" submenu to avoid saving the
  50.       parameters.
  51.   25. Added an option about saving the parameters by default when you
  52.       double-click on the top-left corner.
  53.   26. Fixed the help files so the browse buttons move you through the
  54.       entire help file sequentially.
  55.   27. Added a documentation file with common questions.
  56.   28. Added documentation for the font substitution file.
  57.   29. Added a second version of the help files with larger fonts for high
  58.       resolution screens.
  59.   30. A sharing violation (when trying to open the same file with
  60.       "share.exe" loaded) has been fixed.
  61.   31. Circumvented a bug in the HPGL and PIC graphics filters.
  62.   32. Font substitution file now uses dpi instead of TeX magnification.
  63.   33. New version of ctl3d.dll that works under Windows 3.0
  64.   34. Fixed a bug that prevented the program from running in 286 machines
  65.   35. Added a "Copy" command to the browser
